چکیده

Dynamic Chest Image Analysis aims to develop model-based computer analysis and visualization methods for showing focal and general abnormalities of lung ventilation and perfusion based on a sequence of digital chest fluoroscopy frames collected with the Dynamic Pulmonary Imaging technique [18,5,17,6]. We have proposed and evaluated a multiresolutional method with an explicit ventilation model based on pyramid images for ventilation analysis. We have further extended the method for ventilation analysis to pulmonary perfusion. This paper focuses on the clinical evaluation of our method for perfusion analysis. Three clinical cases are included to illustrate the effects of contrast media in perfusion analysis and a dozen of clinical cases without using contrast media are used for evaluation. Our clinical evaluation shows that our method is effective for pulmonary embolism, demonstrating consistent correlations with computed tomography (CT) and nuclear medicine (NM) studies. This performance is the consequence of the idea that the cardiac information recorded in the perfusion image sequence may be utilized to accelerate pulmonary perfusion analysis and improve its sensitivity in detecting pulmonary embolism. Keywords—Chest images, dynamic chest image analysis, pulmonary perfusion, perfusion model, pyramid images.

Title Pulmonary blood flow evaluation using a dynamic flat - panel detector

Purpose Pulmonary ventilation and circulation dynamics are reflected on fluoroscopic images as changes in X-ray translucency. The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of non-contrast functional imaging using a dynamic flat-panel detector (FPD). Methods Dynamic chest radiographs of 20 subjects (Abnormal, n=12; Normal, n=8) were obtained using the FPD system. Image analysis wa...

A New Computer-Aided Detection System for Pulmonary Nodule in CT Scan Images of Cancerous Patients

Introduction: In the lung cancers, a computer-aided detection system that is capable of detecting very small glands in high volume of CT images is very useful. This study provided a novelsystem for detection of pulmonary nodules in CT image. Methods: In a case-control study, CT scans of the chest of 20 patients referred to Yazd Social Security Hospital were examined. In the two-dimensional and ...

Development of pulmonary blood flow evaluation method with a dynamic flat-panel detector: quantitative correlation analysis with findings on perfusion scan.

Pulmonary blood flow is reflected in dynamic chest radiographs as changes in X-ray translucency, i.e., pixel values. Thus, decreased blood flow should be observed as a reduction of the variation of X-ray translucency. We performed the present study to investigate the feasibility of pulmonary blood flow evaluation with a dynamic flat-panel detector (FPD). Sequential chest radiographs of 14 subje...

Fusion of Thermal Infrared and Visible Images Based on Multi-scale Transform and Sparse Representation

Due to the differences between the visible and thermal infrared images, combination of these two types of images is essential for better understanding the characteristics of targets and the environment. Thermal infrared images have most importance to distinguish targets from the background based on the radiation differences, which work well in all-weather and day/night conditions also in land s...
